Founded in 2011, The Lighting Alliance was created to create a cross-border platform for artists to network, train, and promote light painting. The alliance began holding major collaborative events, such as the 2013 Paris exhibition, where 20 artists created a light animation, and the 2014 LightArt Congress in Spain. In September 2014, the LPWA was named an official Collaborating Partner of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015. Core community members reached out requesting an updated logo design for a social networking website and an evergreen visual guide for members to feel empowered to develop physical and digital materials for workshops and meetups.

The logo is built upon the iconic ‘flame blade’ silhouette, ensuring instant recognition and solidarity within the global lightpainting community. A warm, radiant color palette evokes the shared glow of a torch, visually reinforcing the idea that every member is a torchbearer for the craft. The customizable logotype utilizes deliberately open-source fonts, empowering any community member to download and create fully branded materials for their own events.
